Our summer monsoons make the world seem fresh and new – and here at the Arizona Governor’s Council on Spinal and Head Injury, we have lots of news to share.

First, we want to welcome you to the inaugural issue of the online version of our newsletter, Vistas. We’ve been producing a paper version of Vistas for almost five years, but the increasing prominence of electronic communication – along with the growing costs of printing and mailing – convinced us that it was time to take a new approach.
Electronic distribution will allow us to continue to provide you with news and information about spinal cord injury (SCI) and traumatic brain injury (TBI) while devoting more of our resources to other programs and services. If you know someone who would like to be added to our electronic distribution list, he or she can sign up easily by visiting our Web site at www.azheadspine.org.

And speaking of Web sites, we hope all of you will take a few minutes to explore our redesigned site. It contains lots of good information about the Council and about SCI and TBI, in an attractive and easy-to-navigate format. You’ll also find numerous publications, available for downloading, and links to other organizations that may be helpful to you. Please visit our site at www.azheadspine.org and let us know what you think.

Finally, while technology is great, it doesn’t tell the whole story. We’re also pleased to announce some “people news,” too. Rebecca Burch has joined the Council staff as a Program Manager. Rebecca formerly served as Independent Living Services Coordinator for the Arizona Rehabilitation Services Administration and brings a great deal of expertise and enthusiasm to her work. She fills a position vacated by Noreen Shcolnik, a long-time friend and Council staff member, who retired in March. We wish Noreen the best.

Please drop us a line or give us a call if you have any feedback you’d like to share with us. And we hope that all of your news is good news this summer.
